Despite frozen noses and toes, hundreds turned out for the 28th annual Great Fruitcake Toss on Saturday, Jan. 28, in Memorial Park. Volunteers baked and wrapped 150 fruitcakes; the proceeds from renting them were given to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church food pantry. Afterward, the somewhat battered fruitcakes, which are low in sugar, were taken to the animals at Smokebrush Farm.
