March 6
The Manitou Springs Police Department responded to a domestic violence in progress at a motel in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. The officers investigated and arrested a man, who was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center for multiple domestic violence-related charges.
An elderly man suffering from dementia and Parkinson’s disease was reported missing from the 100 block of El Paso Boulevard. A “be on the lookout” bulletin and Silver Alert were issued.
MSPD received a parking complaint from the 300 block of Ruxton Avenue. Officers responded and learned the vehicle had been tagged before. The vehicle was towed without incident.
March 7
A vehicle abandoned in the 200 block of Beckers Lane, which had been tagged on March 3, was towed.
A city bus and a garbage truck were involved in an accident in the 300 block of Ruxton Avenue. The bus driver was found to be at fault.
Officers stopped a vehicle speeding in the 400 block of Manitou Avenue and began to suspect the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was taken into custody and a chemical sample was collected. The person was cited and released, and the sample was sent to a lab for analysis.
March 8
MSPD stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue and the officers learned the driver had a local misdemeanor warrant. They arrested the suspect, who was transported to CJC.
A juvenile was involved in a marijuana-related incident in the 400 block of El Monte Place.
A vehicle theft was reported in the 400 block of El Monte Place and officers investigated. The vehicle’s details have been added to the crime information centers databases.
Officers responded to a cold theft at a business in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue. They immediately recognized the male suspect and attempted to locate him. They were unable to and a summons was written and will be served.
March 9
A criminal trespass in progress was reported in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. MSPD contacted a male transient living in his vehicle; the property owner and law enforcement had asked him to leave multiple times previously. The vehicle was towed and the man was cited for trespassing.
MSPD contacted a man in the 1100 block of Manitou Avenue who had two local misdemeanor warrants. He was taken into custody and booked into CJC.
March 10
At 0251 hours, an officer attempted a traffic stop near Serpentine Drive and Manitou Avenue. The driver initially stopped, then drove away. MSPD obtained suspect information and an arrest warrant is pending for criminal traffic violation, obstructing police and fraud.
A theft in progress was reported in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue. The suspect was apprehended and charged with multiple offenses.
March 12
At 1254 hours, MSPD stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Manitou Avenue; the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Manitou officers were dispatched to a traffic accident near the Pikes Peak Highway and Dodd Road in El Paso County. They were informed that the vehicle had fled the scene and was eastbound on U.S. Highway 24, nearing Manitou. The officers located the vehicle and, after investigating, arrested the driver for driving under the influence of drugs.
MSPD received property found in the 900 block of Manitou Avenue. The item has no identification, so the owner cannot be contacted. It has been placed in safekeeping.
Officers responded to a cold domestic violence report in the 200 block of Elk Path. No arrests were made.
