A juvenile was involved in an assault in the 3400 block of West Colorado Avenue.
The Manitou Springs Police Department assisted the El Paso County Crisis Negotiation Unit in responding to a call on Easy Street in El Paso County.
Manitou officers stopped a vehicle near South 31st and Robinson streets. The driver had a local felony warrant; he was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
Feb. 28
MSPD received a fraud report (illegal use of credit cards) from the 100 block of Pawnee Avenue. Officers spoke to the victim and are investigating.
Identity theft was reported in the 00 block of Via Maria Theresia. There is no suspect information.
Officers responded to the 100 block of Clarksley Road, where a domestic violence incident in progress had been reported. They investigated and took a man into custody.
March 1
MSPD stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Beckers Lane. The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was cited.
March 2
A woman who owns property in the 300 block of Plainview Place contacted officers and handed over what she thought could be an explosive device found in trash a former tenant left behind. The Colorado Springs Police Department bomb squad responded and found it was not dangerous.
A disturbance was reported at a motel in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. After contacting the people involved, officers determined it was a family disagreement.
March 3
MSPD stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. Its license plates were expired and registered to a different vehicle, and the driver did not have insurance or a valid driver’s license. The vehicle was impounded and the driver was cited for a criminal traffic violation.
The Manitou Crisis Response Team assisted the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office to respond to a check-the-welfare request regarding a suicidal man in the 5700 block of Preminger Drive in unincorporated El Paso County. He was placed on an M1 hold and transported to a behavioral health center, where he was admitted without incident.
MSPD assisted the U.S. Forest Service to search an area west of the city known for illegal camps. A man was located and found to have three local misdemeanor warrants. He was taken into custody and released on a personal recognizance bond with a new court date.
The Manitou Crisis Response Team assisted the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office with a check-the-welfare request for a suicidal person in the 6700 block of Alliance Loop in unincorporated El Paso County. A juvenile male was placed on an M1 hold and transported to a local hospital, where he was admitted without incident.
Officers stopped a vehicle near El Paso Boulevard and Via Maria Theresia. After investigating, they arrested a 55-year-old Colorado Springs woman for a local misdemeanor warrant. She was transported to CJC.
Two people with local misdemeanor warrants were arrested after a traffic stop in the 00 block of El Paso Boulevard. Both were booked into CJC. Jail deputies located illicit drugs in the possession of one suspect; she was charged with entering a correctional facility with contraband.
Officers observed a vehicle speeding near West U.S. Highway 24 and 21st Street. They stopped the vehicle, determined the driver was intoxicated and arrested him.
March 4
A Lovers Lane resident reported a family member was missing from Denver. MSPD advised Denver police and requested they check the person’s welfare. Information about the woman has been entered into the National Crime Information Center and Colorado Crime Information Center databases.
Officers investigated a cold report of a possible hit-and-run with vehicle damage near Manitou Springs Middle School.
March 5
At 0210 hours, MSPD was dispatched to a disturbance in the 700 block of Manitou Avenue. After investigating, officers had probable cause to charge a 49-year-old male Manitou resident with criminal mischief.
Manitou officers patrolling the area of 31st Street and West Highway 24 located a woman camping under the bridge. They spoke with her and learned she had a local misdemeanor warrant. The officers arrested her and transported her to CJC.
