On Wednesday, Feb. 22, Manitou officers responded to a multi-vehicle traffic accident involving a city plow truck at the intersection of Manitou and Pawnee avenues. Vehicles were damaged, but no one was injured.

Feb. 17

Manitou Springs Police officers located a vehicle associated with a local misdemeanor warrant parked at a hotel in the 200 block of Manitou Ave. The female occupant was taken into custody and transported to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

At 1516 hours, officers responded to a report of a man down in the 100 block of Pawnee Ave. It was determined to be a fentanyl overdose and the officers administered several doses of Narcan to resuscitate the man, who eventually became responsive. The Manitou Springs Fire Department transported him to a hospital.

Feb. 18

A man contacted the MSPD, claiming to have been assaulted more than a week before in Manitou Springs. He was not able to provide any witness information. After an investigation, no evidence could be found. He was contacted and informed of the findings, and decided not to pursue charges.

MSPD responded to a report of a runaway from the 00 block of El Paso Boulevard. Information about the 15-year-old boy was entered into the National Crime Information Center/Colorado Crime Information Center databases; officers have been unable to locate him.

An altercation at a restaurant in the 900 block of Manitou Avenue led a Manitou officer to charge a suspect with third-degree assault.

Feb. 19

Officers stopped a vehicle speeding in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. They noticed a strong odor of alcohol, conducted roadside testing and arrested the driver for DUI.

A domestic dispute was reported in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. A suspect was found to be violating a protection order.

Officers responded to a cold criminal mischief report in the 900 block of Manitou Avenue. The victim’s car tires were slashed after an argument about a parking spot. The investigation is ongoing.

A domestic disturbance was reported at a hotel in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. After quelling the disturbance and gathering information on scene, officers arrested one person.

Feb. 20

A motor vehicle burglary on Hydro Street was reported the day after it occurred. Officers were unable to substantiate the victim’s claims over the phone and arranged for an in-person interview, which has not yet occurred.

Feb. 21

MSPD was dispatched to a restaurant in the 900 block of Manitou Avenue, where a man was reported to be asking patrons for illicit narcotics. The officers spoke with him, found he had not received anything and asked him to leave the restaurant, and he did. They were called back to the scene when he returned; he was taken into custody, cited for trespassing and released.

Officers were conducting homeless operations and education near 31st Street and U.S. Highway 24. A woman there was wanted for local misdemeanors, and she was arrested after a brief chase on foot.

A juvenile was involved in an incident in the 400 block of El Monte Place.

During a traffic stop in the 100 block of Crystal Park Road, officers discovered a man was wanted on a local misdemeanor warrant. He was taken into custody and booked into CJC.

MSPD took a man into custody on multiple charges during a traffic stop at Crystal Park Road and Old Crystal Park Road. While attempting to get him to exit his vehicle, the officers had to use some force; he was not injured. He was later arrested and charged.

Feb. 22

A juvenile was found to have a weapon in the 400 block of El Monte Place.

Feb. 23

Officers responded to a single-vehicle traffic accident on westbound Highway 24 near mile marker 299. They found a man had been driving during a blizzard on an icy roadway and lost control of his vehicle. It struck the center median and landed in a ditch. MSPD assisted medical crews before overseeing the vehicle’s removal. Due to the icy conditions, the driver was not cited.

MSPD assisted the U.S. Forest Service with checking for illegal camps near the west end of Manitou Springs. A man with two local misdemeanor warrants was located, taken into custody and booked into CJC.

A juvenile was involved in an assault in the 00 block of Beaver Path.

Officers contacted a man who was found to have a misdemeanor warrant from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. He was taken into custody and booked into CJC.
