Jan. 27

Manitou Springs Police officers investigated a possible disturbance in the 700 block of Duclo Avenue. They found no evidence of domestic violence.

An unknown person shoplifted multiple items from a business in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue.

Jan. 28

A cell phone was found and turned in at the police station. It has been secured for safekeeping.

Officers stopped a vehicle with its headlights off in the 3400 block of West Colorado Avenue. The male driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol.

Jan. 29

MSPD responded to a report of a man trespassing in the 400 block of Manitou Avenue. He refused to leave the property, and was detained and removed from it. He was cited and released.

Jan. 30

Officers were dispatched to a criminal trespass reported in a business park/condominium complex in the 900 block of Manitou Avenue. Upon arrival, they spoke to a person trying to sleep in the commons area, despite having no legitimate reason to be there. The suspect was cited for trespassing and escorted from the property.

Jan. 31

After responding to a check-the-welfare request in the 00 block of Sutherland Place, MSPD found a deceased man in the residence. The El Paso County Coroner’s Office took custody of the body and an unattended death report was taken.

Feb. 1

Property damage at a business in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue was reported. The business had camera footage of the suspect, and Manitou officers quickly contacted the person. The suspect was cited for criminal mischief and released.

Officers observed a vehicle with no license plate being driven out of Manitou Springs. After stopping it near West Pikes Peak Avenue and Columbia Road, they learned the driver had no license and the vehicle was uninsured. The driver was cited for a criminal traffic violation and the vehicle was towed.

Feb. 2

A person was treated for a gunshot wound to the head in the 100 block of El Paso Boulevard.

A juvenile was involved in a shoplifting incident in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue.

Officers responded to a cold hit-and-run accident in the 500 block of Cañon Avenue. A white truck backed into a building’s wall and left the scene without reporting it. No suspect information is available.

MSPD stopped a vehicle with no license plate in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue. The driver said he didn’t have a license and the vehicle was uninsured. The driver was cited and the vehicle was towed.
