People walk past Manitou Springs City Hall, 606 Manitou Ave.

In case you missed this in the Feb. 8-15 issue of Sixty35, here’s how you can see behind the scenes of Manitou’s city government.

The city is offering its inaugural Citizens Academy, a free opportunity for community members to learn from city staff and/or elected officials, with in-depth looks at governmental functions, facility tours, interactive activities and time with department directors.

The three-hour sessions start Monday, April 10, and conclude with a two-hour graduation on Monday, June 5. They take place 5:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays, except the aquatics center tour on Wednesday, May 31.

The sessions total 26 hours, and participants must attend all of them.

Applications will be accepted through 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, and 20 spots are available. Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, but Manitou residents will receive priority.

The city will follow up about your application by Wednesday, March 8, via the email address you provided. Apply here.
