In early February, the city of Manitou Springs announced the launch of its first Citizens Academy, a free opportunity to learn more about the functions of each of the city’s departments. As of Feb. 16, all 20 available seats have been filled, with 22 applications for the academy so far.

The city is encouraging anyone interested to still apply, and they will be added to a wait list. The city will look at offering another academy later in 2023 to give everyone the chance to learn more about local government.
